English version Marco Frezza is 2010 GTS champion! The miracle became true: in the very last race weekend of the season, Marco Frezza managed to overtake his all-season rival Dayraut thanks to a win and a second place in Barcelona, one of his favourite circuits, which gave him the GTS category International GT Open 2010 title. In race-1, Frezza, together with his team-mate Niki Cadei, gave Kessel Racing team another win at the end of a dominated race from the beginning to the end, despite the pressure behind him from his rivals in the title race: the same Ferrari 430 GT3 of Jean Philippe Dayraut and Lorenzo Bontempelli. Marco, after taking pole during Saturday’s qualifying, mantained the lead during his stint and gave Cadei the car on the first place, then kept until the chequered flag. But it was during the second race that the real miracle came, with Frezza’s second place, which counted like a win, as on the top step of the podium arrived Novadriver’s Audi R8, one of the teams which didn’t take points for the championship. After all the misfortunes throughout the year, finally everything went the right way, already before the green lights, when Luxury’s rival car went off one second before the start of the formation lap. But the race didn’t become less complicated because of this, since Frezza-Cadei had to start from the back after the electrical problems during the second qualifying sessione. To take definitely the title, the young driver from Milan needed the top result: ten points. He managed this thanks to Cadei’s great recovery, starting from the back and giving a tense Marco the car in second place. Frezza didn’t make any mistake and took the result, which meant for him also the drivers’ championship. The first one in a carreer which begun, as for all the top drivers, in karting and then proceeded in single-seaters, in Formula Renault 2000, before the final arrival to International GT Open three years ago. A category which now sees Marco Frezza’s name (born in 1987, the youngest driver in his team) in the hall of fame.
