Another bitter-sweet weekend

Another bitter-sweet weekend for Marco Frezza in the Portuguese event of International GT Open, at Algarve circuit, finished with a retirement and a podium.

Race-1 was a real disaster for the Itlian driver, as he tells himself: "We retired due to the failure of the alternator belt, but we had technical problems throughout the race: we raced with no power steering and with some gearbox issues. For these reasons we never managed to get to the top positions."

Much better went the second race of the weekend, when Marco himself took the start: "I was fast during my stint and I fought throughout it for the second place with Babini and Moncini. Then my team-mate Lopez took the steering wheel and he found himself fighting with Montermini, who had a better pace than us and overtook us. In the end we were third."

The continuous bad luck which hit Marco in the latest races, after a beginning of the season with back-to-back victories, forced the Vittoria Competizioni team to get a certain gap to the head of the standings. Now, Marco has 122 points, 25 less than the leader Soheil Ayari, but just 14 less than the third in the championship, Montermini-Moncini.

This is Frezza's goal for the end of the season: "I want to reach the championship podium and I still have two weekends available: the first one on my home circuit in Monza and the second on the familiar Barcelona track, where last year I won the GTS championship. I'll try to do my best in every race, avoiding making calculations, and we'll see what happens."
